How would you propose the plan to
prepare students in your country
to work in different culturally, technologically, and economically context?
to work in different culturally, technologically, and economically context?
East Timor as a new
country is facing a number of challenges. As a teacher and parents we force to
educate our students in the right way. Provided or serve them a good quality of
education. Educate them based on the
globalization era. For instance prepare
them to face the challenges, such as mental and physical. The most important thing is prepare them how
to compete in the technology era and world globalization. To compete with the
other country we should have a strong human resources which is related to the culture,
technology and economic. These three contexts are most important in the
competition. Related to the culture we have to teach them how to compete with
other country which has different culture such as behavior, language and
skill. To obtain these goals as a
teacher and parents should give hands in response for the students’ future. It
is not easy to compete in the globalization era, because it is a real
competition of life. To be competitive the students should be qualified in
every context mentioned above and flexibility to be fight in competition. In
this case the students should be able to familiar with the new technology such
as, able to use computer and able to
communicate with the other people which have different culture and
behavior. If the students have ruled the criteria it will be easy for them to
find a job and ready to be competitive with other people from different
culture, technology and economic.
On other hand to gain
the objectives we as a teacher should have a good plan to provide qualified
students to response the challenges. Those plans should include the human
resources and facilities to support the development of quality not quantity,
because the world globalization now needs the quality of human resources in
modern technology.

What
has been done by your country in each context?
There is hope for Timor-Leste.
The country has made great strides since years of conflict when nearly 85-90
percent of the education infrastructure was destroyed. As a country that has
just celebrated its tenth year of independence, the new leadership agrees that
investing in human potential is essential to building a sustainable and
prosperous future. The country has recently completed an education strategy
through 2030. The newly elected president, prime minister, minister of
education and others all pledged to strengthen their efforts to mobilize
internal resources to support education and look at what policies can be put
into place to reach the most marginalized, achieve universal access, expand
preschool coverage, and improve teacher training and overall learning outcomes
across the education system base to the necessity of the country and the world.
According to the world today,
as a passport is a Language so our country via Ministry of Education has
established the curriculum that English is the one important subject to be
taught in Primary School to University, even though we have two official
languages they are Portuguese and Tetun. Our constitution also recognizes two
other languages become working language. As we know that today the technology
is not known the boarder.
Spite of that the country has
sent many students to study in overseas such as Philippines, Malaysia,
Indonesia, Thailand, Portugal and Brazil. These students will choose various
major of field study base on their education background. Most major of field study
which is related to the new technology and economic development.
Other reason the country sends
the students to overseas is to learn the culture and language of other
countries, because Timor-Leste soon will be part of ASEAN member. So every effort that the country has done
just to response the necessity of the young generation to lead the country
forward base on the world globalization and technology era.
